Overview: The purpose of the assignment was to be able to write a speech about defining your future which meets all the criteria for the NJ TSA competition which I entered and won second place for. The point of writing the speech was to allow the students to pick a topic which interested them and basically make lemonade out of lemons.

 

Skills Tested: The skills that I was tested in was my ability to write a speech which would be ale to emotionally impact a specific audience.I needed to create something which could move people sympathetically and really touch them (so that I could win). My ability to revise and edit was also called into action. I needed to write the speech so that it flowed and made sense. Making it easy to read and understand.

 

 

Personal Reflection: I believe that my strength in writing this speech was my ability to take something that happened to my family and I and make it into something everyone could enjoy and eventually learn from. I was able to even memorize the entire speech which was pretty hard for me because I do not have a photographic memory. It took me days and hours of practice to remember everything just hoping I did not mess up on competition day. However, I believe my weakness was writing a short but memorable speech. I had problems with wordiness and I had a lot of excess and unnecessary words.
