ABOUT THE *STAR*

Hello everyone, my name is Francesca Saenz. I am currently an eighth grader at Passaic Gifted and Talented Academy. Next year I will be attending The Madeira School in Virginia. Being able to go to a school like that is probably my biggest achievement at the moment. Throughout this year I have juggled both my regular public education as well as the classes from my beloved program, The Wight Foundation. The Foundation has helped me get where I am today as well my AMAZING teachers in Passaic. My favorite thing to do is learn and to be honest I am not a bookworm or anything. Like I do not really like reading but I just love learning something completely new. I also love playing sports, the sports I play are Soccer, Track and Field, Softball, Swimming, and Chess (yes chess is considered a sport in my book). Not only do I care about my academics and my progressions in athletics but I also love the arts. I have played the Clarinet for 4 years so far and I have a passion for drawing (especially cats). At PGTA I am part of the acadmic strand where I have various classes throughout the year which can better enhance my skills academically and to better prepare me for future situations. For example, a class I took for a semester was called Advanced Math and in that course I learned a bit of Trigonometry and Geometry which really will help me in the future. Now when I take a real certified class which discusses those math topics I will not be as lost as I would have if I never learned that. All of these classes will eventualy help me in the future because my horizons will broaden and I will be influenced to do more. In the future, I wish to become a Cardiovascular Surgeon and with my work at PGTA I will get one step closer.
